On behalf of the organizing committees, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 22nd International Conference on Solid State Ionics (SSI-22). The conference is held in PyeongChang, Korea from June 16 to 21, 2019. SSI-22 is hosted by The International Society for Solid State Ionics (ISSI) and organized by The Korean Ceramic Society.
The international Conference on Solid State Ionics is a biennial global event lasting more than 40 years, in which scientists and engineers all over the world come together to discuss the fundamentals, innovations and applications of ion transport in solids and relevant phenomena. SSI-22 composed of experts in a wide range of research fields will offer a meaningful opportunity to identify and exchange up-to-date achievements among participants and to foster young researchers.
The conference will cover all classic and emerging topics related to Solid State Ionics such as fuel cells, batteries, sensors, electronics and biological systems. A special session will also be held with global leading industry partners.
Despite South Korea currently playing an important role as a test bed for future industries such as batteries, fuel cells, solar cells, and nano-electronics, it is the only key country in Asia yet to host SSI meeting. Thus, I am pleased to invite you to the SSI meeting which is held for the first time in Korea. As the venue PyeongChang is the hidden pearl of nature located near east coast of Korea, not far from Seoul, I am expecting this conference to encourage the participation of experts who are engaged in the aforementioned industries and to greatly expand our society.
With the pristine and exotic landscapes of PyeongChang, I am confident that all the participants will find a memorable and enjoyable time and will share views and visions on the future of Solid State Ionics.
I am looking forward to seeing you in PyeongChang in 2019!
